This was painted from a 1923 black and white photo of my aunt Jean. She, my mother and their sister Stella all had their hair cut in a "bob." All the siblings were redheads except Jean, who was blond.
: I paint in a different styles, from realistic to whimsical, loose and intuitive, without a photo reference. Working form my imagination, the process is playful and energetic, and the painting is often humorous. I also enjoy painting portraits of people and animals, using the style of your choice, and love to capture the personality or mood of the subject.
